“As long as space endures,
As long as sentient beings remain
Until then, may I too remain
And dispel the miseries of the world."

Welcome to Phen Dhe Ling Buddhist Centre

The Phen Dhe Ling Buddhist Centre was initially founded as Tibetan Ancient Ritual Arts (TARA) in 1999 by Venerable Thupten Lodey, a senior Gyuto monk, with the support and help of spiritual friends with the good intention of benefitting all sentient beings.

The Centre has Gelugpa lineage to the GyutoTantric Monastic University of Tibet and in 2006 His Holiness the Dalai Lama bestowed the name Phen Dhe Ling on the centre which means 'Benefitting others is the source of happiness of self and others'.

The Venerable Thupten Lodey was born in Tibet and became a monk at the age of 12 at the Gyuto Tantric Monastic University. He studied Buddhist philosophy and ritual arts at the Gyuto Monastery and achieved the highest examination degree (Gyugchenpa). He has also held various senior positions at the monastery over the years. In 1994, after travelling and chanting with the Gyuto Monks in tours of the USA and Europe, Ven Thupten came to Australia to lead a unique harmony chanting tour and take part in creating the first sand Mandala in the southern hemisphere at the Museum of Western Australia. Since that time Ven Thupten has chosen to stay in Western Australia and share his Buddhist knowledge to develop love and harmony in individuals to enable them to achieve inner happiness for themselves and for the benefit of our society.

The activities of the Centre include regular Buddhist teachings, guided meditations, general meditation, Guru Pujas, Tsog offerings, renewal of Bodhicitta vows and weekend retreats. Classes in Tibetan calligraphy and language, Mandala drawing and traditional mask making are also available according to demand. Ritual practices for different needs (Pujas) are performed in the Centre and can also be performed in individual homes by request. Ven Thupten Lodey is available for ceremonies for taking refuge, blessings, purification of obstacles of home and business, blessings for babies , funerals and marriages, and is also available for individual audiences for personal and spiritual advice. Arrangements can be made for Ven Thupten to visit local schools and communities.

The Phen Dhe Ling Centre is entirely supported by members and volunteers, everyone is welcome and it is open for all people.
